The first day of the National Conference of the Librarians' Association of Romania (ABR) offered participants the opportunity to explore some of the newest technological solutions dedicated to libraries, museums, and archives, under the patronage of Softlink Central Europe - the main sponsor of the event.
The revolutionary features of the Liberty Digital platform, especially those based on artificial intelligence and RFID technology, were presented and demonstrated live by Csaba Giras, General Manager of Softlink Central Europe.
Cristina Marcu, Product Manager, provided a detailed presentation of the Softlink Care range, demonstrating practical solutions for protecting and archiving book and document collections.
State-of-the-art equipment used in libraries, such as Zeutschel professional book scanners, NexBib RFID self-checkout and self-return equipment, and the Orbitvu system for automating the photographing of museum exhibits, were available for participants to test live.
Alexander Sander and Mihai Nasta presented in detail the functionality of the equipment and the benefits they bring to the process of cultural heritage preservation.
Special guests of the event - Marco Gerritsen, specialist in automation, RFID, and digitalization, and Jan David Hanrath, architect and consultant in library design—guided the discussions toward the international context of the latest currents of thought regarding the future of libraries: the transformation of libraries into dynamic hubs that connect the physical space with the digital one, alongside new approaches to using library collections and spaces to facilitate human development and interactions.
The Softlink Open Day concluded in a relaxed atmosphere with a wine tasting from the Apoldium Winery and a musical recital performed by the Imagine Quartet.
