The year 2020 was a disruptive one - for libraries, for museums, and for cultural institutions in general. Despite all the adversities, we are concluding this year with an important premiere for museums in Romania: the launch of the automated management system for museum collections - Softlink Galleria.

The Galleria system features the following modules: cataloging, querying, circulation, inventory, reports, and administration. The main characteristics of the system are:

• It is a thin-client web application, allowing the use of client computers with minimal hardware capabilities.

• It permits the use of any internet browser as a client application for accessing all system modules.

• It enables the import/conversion of data from other systems or electronic record formats.

• It features a customizable viewing/search page for visitors.

• It allows the translation/adaptation of texts and labels in different user interfaces.

• It allows for the modification of the input format: enabling changes to the content and form for any page of the system; it permits both the addition of new fields and the reordering of their display.

• It allows for the definition of specific privileges for each museum curator user.

• It enables tracking the custody history of various items in the collection.

• It facilitates collection inventory by configuring total or partial inventory lists (based on various criteria: location, collection, etc.).

• It generates reports and statistics in PDF, Word, or Excel formats, based on various criteria, with the possibility of customizing display and print formats.
